Born on the 570 AD into the pagan city of Mecca, where tribal wars and violence were frequent, burying girls alive and oppressing the weak was the culture in the Arabs. Mohammed was well known for honesty and righteousness, Muslims like myself all over the world believe he, Mohammed is the last messenger of Allah to guide mankind. There is a question I face always, why do I believe in Mohammed and how do I know he is a prophet? Here is my answer.
Answer this question and give me a name, a person, scientists, philosopher. I’d agree with you that Mohammed is not a messenger if you tell me who taught Mohammed?, except Allah.
Mohammed was an illiterate and never had any kind of education. He was brought up by his grandfather and his uncle. His beloved father passed away before he was born, his mother too while he was 6 years old. A person of this status how did he manage to come up with a book so eloquent which the best Arab Poets couldn’t show a single fault in it and not a single verse like it was produced. The holy Quran consists of 6236 ayaths (verses) in 114 surahs (chapters), Each and every verse proves Mohammed an illiterate cannot produce such a document, not even the most learned man of his time, and thus he was a messenger who had a message from the almighty Allah to deliver to the mankind.
Whenever I read the Quran and wonder whenever I go through the works of Muslim scientists, or scientists who converted just by reading Quran I ask myself this Question. “Who taught Mohammed?” the answer is always the same “Allah Almighty”.
The Quran consists of verses with scientific Knowledge which are found like yesterday with the most advanced technology.
Who taught Mohammed about the creation of the universe?
1- Big bang or Arranged so?
How Mohammed did knew that the universe formed like that? Where there any scientists at that time who had come to the conclusion of big bang?
(I personally don’t believe in big bang theory, I believe the universe was one and it was split apart and arranged by Allah. If it was an explosion it would not be in such a manner with this great order. Don’t tell me we all know explosions create chaos and a mess.)
The Quran says:
“Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were of one piece, then we parted them, and we made every living thing of water? Will they not then believe?” (21:30)
The Quran says about the rotation of the planets and their axis.
” And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term (appointed). That is the Decree of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing. (36:38)
And the moon, we have measured for it mansions (to traverse) till it returns like the old dried curved date stalk. (36:39)
(thafseer why it is said “till it returns like the odd dried curved date stalk”, And the moon We have determined it, with respect to its course, [to run] in phases — twenty eight phases in twenty eight nights of every month; it becomes concealed for two nights when the month has thirty days, and for one night when it has twenty nine days — until it returns, during its final phase seeming to the [human] eye, like an aged palm-bough, in other words, like the stalk with a date cluster when it ages, becoming delicate, arched and yellowish.
It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit” (36:40)”
How did Mohammed know that sun is at a fixed course and it rotates on its axis? How did Mohammed know that each and every planet has its own axis? Who told him or taught him that 1400 years back?
Expanding Universe
Quran says:
“We have constructed the heaven with might, and verily, it is we who are steadily expanding it.... ” (51:47)
It was only in 1929 that Edwin Hubble discovered the Universe is expanding, so how on earth did Mohammed know it 1400 years ago? Who taught Mohammed cosmic science?
Stars and planets
Quran says:
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes).(53:1)
How did Mohammed knew that when stars die they lose their light and it’s a gaseous body unlike other planets and moons and described them breaking into pieces?
About the sun
Quran says:
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown) (81:1)
How did Mohammed know that the sun is not round which scientists discovered it on 2008 and when it loses its power it would be round?
The Protective Atmosphere
Earth is constantly bombarded by meteoroids that disintegrate upon the atmosphere and by lethal rays emitted by the sun. This UV radiation is absorbed by the Ozone layer forming the outer fringe of our atmosphere. Thus our atmosphere along with its Ozone layer is a protective covering for us. Life possibly could not have existed without it. How meticulously, does our Lord sustain and protect us against this atmospheric destruction.
Quran says:
"And We have made the atmosphere a protective roof, yet do they turn away from the Signs which these things point to." (21:32)
Yes, how did he know that?
Embryology
The Dutch naturalist Anthony van Leeuwenhoek (1632-1723) produced lenses powerful enough to prove that many tiny creatures are not spontaneously generated but are produced from eggs. The science of Embryology as we know it today did not discover many of the detailed aspects of human embryonic development until the 1970s, using powerful microscopes, ultra sound and fiber optics technology. See how the Quran described the stages of embryonic development.
Quran says:
"God fashioned man from a small quantity (of sperm)" (16:4)
Fertilization takes place with only one sperm among several tens of million produced by man.
"Then We placed him as a drop in a place of rest" (23:13)
Implantation of the blastocyst in the uterus.
"Then We made the drop into a leech like structure..." (23:14)
This resemblance of the human embryo to a leech is an appropriate description of the human embryo from days 7-24, when it clings to the endometrium of the uterus.
"And He (God) gave you hearing and sight and feeling and understanding." (32:9)
The internal ears appear before the eyes, and the brain (the sight of understanding) differentiates last.
Dr. E. Marshall Johnson [2] Professor of Anatomy, concluded after studying verses from Quran: "The Quran describes not only the development of external form but emphasizes also the internal stages - the stages inside the embryo of its creation and development, emphasizing major events recognized by contemporary science... so I see nothing in conflict with the concept that divine intervention was involved..."
Same old question, how did Mohammed know that?
Gender Determination
The concept of "Gender Determination" as being described by geneticists, is one of the outstanding information revealed to us in the Quran. This information is now a known fact, that sperms are the deciding factors in determining the type of gender (male or female) in the new embryo. This determination through the male sperm is due to the fact that sperms have an X and Y chromosomes, while the female ovum has only X Chromosomes (X, X). Through the Quran, The Almighty informs us that it is the male sperms that determine the type of gender for the new offspring:
أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنسَانُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى * أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِيٍّ يُمْنَىٰ * ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ * فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ الزَّوْجَيْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنثَىٰ ) سورة القيامة (39-36
"Does man think that he will be left uncontrolled (without purpose)? Was he not a drop of sperm emitted (in humble form)? Then did (God) make and fashion (him) in due proportion. And of him He made two sexes, male and female..." (75:36-39)
Yes, how did he know that?
And there are more where that came from, dozens of scientists have converted to Islam after going through Quran, understanding it would take a divine inspiration to come up with a book of this magnitude. Still the Question remains if Mohammed wrote that book or made it up, how on earth did he know those scientific facts?
Allah says in the Quran:
سَنُرِيهِمْ آيَاتِنَا فِي الْآفَاقِ وَفِي أَنفُسِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ ۗ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِ بِرَبِّكَ أَنَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ
(سورة فصلت 53)
We shall show them our portents on the horizons and within themselves until it will be manifest unto them that it is the Truth. Doth not thy Lord suffice, since He is Witness over all things? (41:53)
End.

nice article, Quran is filled with wonders, i wish i know Arabic so i would know when i read.
nice work
i believe "there is no god but Allah, and Mohammed is his prophet.
Quran is the true word of Allah.
this is full of bullshit. who would believe these unknown things based on your blog post?? what is the logic behind it? can't you think for a little while?
i dont think this is any shit...
i have read these facts from different sources....and if you dont belyv what knowledged people say then you have to learn everythn...
this is nice, @anon 3:32, ur so ignorant all he wrote are proven facts, if u search the net u'd find them on many science sites. i was a bit shocked on the sun being not round, so i checked it out, its even on nasa's site.
Asalamalaikumwarahmathullah wabarakaathun Lord Hexter,
Why are you using these "signs" in the Quran to confirm that Quran is God's divine revelation when there's nothing new in it or that the vague description, when interpreted, could be applied to our understandings today and to those of the Greeks without any conflicts?
pls do produce proof upon what you say, Greeks books does not talk about science with this much detail and also what is in the Quran is established facts. yes your right nothing new cause the revelation of Allah does not change, Islam does not change it is as it was revealed to the Prophet, my argument was to prove Mohammed was a prophet.
Sure, take some time and read through "Galen: De Semine".
My point was: if person A made a discovery before person B had the revelation, how does person B persuade anyone that their revelation is of divine origin? Yes or No?
well yes ur right. but was these facts found before Quran or after there are some which were found in 1929 and 2008 too.
it is a misconception abt islam saying muslims got it from greek, its not true, there r many things in quran whiche were found recently
clams that the Quran is a copy of Greek work or Muslims change its interpretations are just misconceptions. Greeks never found those facts which are on Quran and the Quran always comes with the Arabic text so if the translation is wrong its easy to spot it if you know Arabic. its been the same all the time. hexter i think you should write this with more details with answering to the Question raised usually
Let me rephrase what I have said, since you all seem to have misinterpreted what I have asked.
Reading through this article, I found that Lord Hexter was using "SCIENCE" as a measure to show that Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammd (peace be upon him). Whether these scientific facts were already established-(and some were)-at the time is a non-issue.
By doing this isn't lord hexter accepting science as a means to validate Holy Quran? If so, why not accept all scientific understandings of this day, since the process by which human knowledge and societies progress in any scientific field is that same as the one that confirmed your beliefs.
scientific theories change through time, we accept theories which are established and accepted as pure facts which do not conflict with Quran.
article is not to prove Quran or validate it, the argument is "if Mohammed wasn't a prophet how did he know these facts which were discovered recently?"
Lets see for example, the fact that the earth was a sphere was put forth by Pythagoreans as early as 500 BC and that it rotates as early as 455 BC, and even Aristotle contemplated a spherical earth in 340 BC. Simple devices such as the use of an effect known as parallax helped to determine this. And the fact that these are also mentioned in Quran thousand of years later is besides the point.
My argument is that The divinity of the Quran (as per you; the Prophet hood of Muhammad peace be upon Him) shouldn't be determined by the 'scientific conditions' or circumstances that follow that premise, whether proven or otherwise.
"shouldn't be determined by the 'scientific conditions' or circumstances that follow that premise, whether proven or otherwise."
i agree with you dear, but this article is to those who doubt prophethood of Mohammed, how can an illiterate an produce such a document with this eloquence and scientific facts.
i believe in Quran each and every word in it even if its proven or not, cause things which were not proven than are proven now.
Here are the three translation of the verse 49 of Surah 51.
YUSUFALI: And of every thing We have created pairs: That ye may receive instruction.
PICKTHAL: And all things We have created by pairs, that haply ye may reflect.
SHAKIR: And of everything We have created pairs that you may be mindful.
Is it scientifically accurate to say everything was created in pairs?
yes neutrons and electrons, male and female, x and y chromosomes and so on
What about lizards that gives virgin births? Bacterial cells that are devoid of mates, and reproduce asexually? They obviously don't have pairs.
Does it mean, we can interpret the verse of Quran in any manner that fits our understanding of the world?
I do not think you need to be a literate to do poetry. Its was years of meditations alone in the mountains and many business trips He made to other tribes, cultures, that he collected information and those came out from his inner self as revelations. He did not read anything or write anything. He was just uttering the words of his thinking. I do not suppose to think one needs to be literate.
He was aware of the stories of other scriptures from the trips he made and rest of the poetry was simly his inner self. He had a tough life as a young kid as you mentioned and He was rather unusual. He pondered! he thinks! He meditate in other words and all these came out later on his life and he declared he was a prophet.
There is nothing mystical or super natural about it, except he was extra ordinarily intelligent to carry it out perfectly. He questioned and it was results of those questions. The result would have been different if it would have been in todays world. Mohammad would probably be a great Scientist or a spiritual leader or a warmen or a politician! you chose!
Lord Hexter: Let them go their way and we go our way. For they won't beleive or follow our path for they have gone astray and nothing would make them understand. Don't you remember the verse about these ppl? But yes, it's our duty to pass the message.
May Allah bless you for your good deads.
Great article! Keep up the good work.
Maryam, Science is cummulative and provisional. Some times in order to adjust for what appears to be very very minor descrepancies between theory and observation require a complete overhaul of the philosophical foundation of the theory. In physics, this has happened more than once in the past century. To top that, at any given time, there are always areas of controversy (among professional scientists), especially at the cutting edge. And this is not counting the oddities that come about due to strange funding mechanisms that drive the progress of science in various parts of the world. The notion that one could or should take science to be an all or nothing entity is dubious at best.
Religion rests upon the idea of the existance of immutable truths. One cannot anchor the validity of such an idea to the ever changing state of science. Likewise, one should not adopt theological ideas as the driver of science. This, however, does not preclude the possiblilty of science being, in principle, compatible with some religion. They belong to different domains and do not mix. They address different kinds of problems.
The adoption of a religion is matter of faith, but not blind faith. Faith that come about after honest pondering. In just the same way that all reason, and science too, rest upon faith on one thing or the other if you keep on deconstructing any logical construct or scientific theory. Faith inspired by observation of course. The key element being honesty. If one, after honest pondering rejects religous faith, then so be it. But to suggest that men and women of faith are invariably ignorant is a position of pitiful arrogance, and dare I say, guilty of the same charge.
Too often we find the only "science" that is leveled at the believer on mvblogs is evolutionary science. Science is far greater in scope, the partitioning of the study of nature into various sciences being artificial not withstanding, you do find issues of relevance to faith in all corners of the scientific enterprise. I often get the feeling that the reason for this may be dishonesty and ignorance of science at large. Evolutionary science is perhaps easier to grasp and makes one feel self-gratifyingly smart after having "understood" it. It certainly reads easier without all the strain you encounter as you stray away from a Richard Dawkin's polular science book. The attempts to hijack science as a political tool to justify one's own (usually moral) stance or to attack the liberty of another is deplorable, and this happens from the religous camp too.
Hexter, having said too much already (sorry, got carried way) I must point out that the methodology (that of Maurice Bucaille) of choosing the one interpretation, out of many, that fits currently held scientific ideas is logically flawed. However I do agree that this may be heart warming to some muslim believers (especially at a time of constant attack on Islam), if they were your intended audience.
@to those who say Mohamed took it from Greeks, why then he picked up only things that are proven fact only lately? why didn't he pick everything including the things that are later or recently proved utterly bogus?
how did he knew to pick only the true facts? Greek had many false theories too which hadn't been proven false 1400 years ago.
@anon 2:59pm, if it was so easy to produce by an illiterate man, how come even the most eloquent of the Arabs that time or even later could not produce a single chapter like Quran? i mean Quran challenged them, when they were so keen to falsify the Quran they could have just made one chapter and Quran would have been proven wrong, but they couldn't.
even Abu Lahab could prove it wrong, he was doomed in a chapter of Quran, if he wanted to prove Quran was wrong, he could have accepted Islam at least for showing off so that people would believe it was wrong, but he didn't, Allah revealed Abu Lahabs fate because He knew. how could Mohamed know this?
and when Romans were defeated by the Persians, Quran revealed about that before anyone get there with the news, and at the same verse it also said that with in years the Romans will defeat Persians which happened 7 years later. how did Mohamed knew that?
and so on...
Is this poetry or revelation!?! It sure is true and beautiful to read and to listen to!
Surah Ar-Rahman (The Most Gracious)
1. The Most Beneficent (Allah)!
2. Has taught (you mankind) the Qur'an (by His Mercy).
3. He created man.
4. He taught him eloquent speech.
5. The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.).
6. And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate.
7. And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance.
8. In order that you may not transgress (due) balance.
9. And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient.
10. And the earth He has put for the creatures.
11. Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates).
12. And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants.
13. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
14. He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery.
15. And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire.
16. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
17. (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter).
18. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
19. He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together.
20. Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress.
21. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
22. Out of them both come out pearl and coral.
23. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
24. And His are the ships going and coming in the seas, like mountains.
25. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
26. Whatsoever is on it (the earth) will perish.
27. And the Face of your Lord full of Majesty and Honour will abide forever.
28. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
29. Whosoever is in the heavens and on earth begs of Him (its needs from Him). Every day He has a matter to bring forth (such as giving honour to some, disgrace to some, life to some, death to some, etc.)!
30. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
31. We shall attend to you, O you two classes (jinns and men)!
32. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
33. O assembly of jinns and men! If you have power to pass beyond the zones of the heavens and the earth, then pass (them)! But you will never be able to pass them, except with authority (from Allah)!
34. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
35. There will be sent against you both, smokeless flames of fire and (molten) brass, and you will not be able to defend yourselves.
36. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
37. Then when the heaven is rent asunder, and it becomes rosy or red like red-oil, or red hide.
38. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
39. So on that Day no question will be asked of man or jinn as to his sin, (because they have already been known from their faces either white or black).
40. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
41. The Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, sinners, etc.) will be known by their marks (black faces), and they will be seized by their forelocks and their feet.
42. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
43. This is Hell which the Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, sinners, etc.) denied.
44. They will go between it (Hell) and the boiling hot water!
45. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
46. But for him who [the true believer of Islamic Monotheism who performs all the duties ordained by Allah and His Messenger Muhammad , and keeps away (abstain) from all kinds of sin and evil deeds prohibited in Islam and] fears the standing before his Lord, there will be two Gardens (i.e. in Paradise).
47. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
48. With spreading branches;
49. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
50. In them (both) will be two springs flowing (free)
51. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
52. In them (both) will be every kind of fruit in pairs.
53. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
54. Reclining upon the couches lined with silk brocade, and the fruits of the two Gardens will be near at hand.
55. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
56. Wherein both will be those (maidens) restraining their glances upon their husbands, whom no man or jinn yatmithhunna (has opened their hymens with sexual intercourse) before them.
57. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
58. (In beauty) they are like rubies and coral.
59. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
60. Is there any reward for good other than good?
61. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
62. And besides these two, there are two other Gardens (i.e. in Paradise).
63. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
64. Dark green (in colour).
65. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
66. In them (both) will be two springs gushing forth water.
67. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
68. In them (both) will be fruits, and date- palms and pomegranates.
69. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
70. Therein (gardens) will be fair (wives) good and beautiful;
71. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
72. Houris (beautiful, fair females) restrained in pavilions;
73. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
74. Whom no man or jinn yatmithhunna (has opened their hymens with sexual intercourse) before them.
75. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
76. Reclining on green cushions and rich beautiful mattresses.
77. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
78. Blessed be the Name of your Lord (Allah), the Owner of Majesty and Honour.

Dear Hexter
All praise is due to Allah (SWT)
I am glad that I finally found a Maldivian youth attempting to prove that Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) is the final and true messenger of Allah.
I see these days many of my friends and many young Maldivians are affected by the incestous and cunning influence of stubborn Maldivians, ending them in loosing their faith. This would undoubtedly be apocalyptic.
May Allah (SWT) bestow you peace and strengthen your belief to defend the religion of Islam and educate more people by facts from Science and Quran.
